"Campfire" wins Best LGBTQIA+ Short Award at CIFF47

Austin Bunn, professor in the department of Performing and Media Arts, has won Best LGBTQIA+ Short Award at the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF47) for his film "Campfire."

The film was developed after extensive ethnographic research on the Hillside campground in Susquehanna County funded by a Rural Humanities faculty grant.

"As a rural space, Hillside – forested, with its boundaries indeterminate, and resolutely off the grid – creates an opportunity for gay men to emerge from the urban frames that order and shape their identities and the technology that now manages all interactions."

Attend a free screening of the film (alongside three other short films on Rural LGBT life) on April 26, 2023 at Cinemapolis.
